Cancer in dogs is one of the worst things some pet parents are dealt with. Cancer is a complicated disease, involving unknown causes and extreme symptoms. If only there is a cure for cancer, everything will be a whole lot easier. But unfortunately, there's none.
As there is no guarantee for a cure in cancer, we can at least strive with all our best efforts to help our fur-babies lessen the risks and chances of them developing cancer.
HOW TO PREVENT CANCER IN DOGS
Take regular visits to your vet
Diseases present in our dogs may develop into cancer in the long run. As a pet parent, you can take proactive measures by taking your pet to the vet immediately whenever you notice skin lesions and masses, swelling, discomfort or any abnormalities in your fur-baby that weren't there before. Your veterinarian will run tactile and medical examinations on your dog, checking whether his systems are functioning normally. This serves as cancer prevention because any abnormalities diagnosed are then given immediate treatment.
Ditch those processed foods
What our pets eat and drink say a lot about cancer prevention and about their nutrition and overall health. Processed foods clearly do not contain a sufficient amount of fats, carbs, protein, vitamins, minerals and that's why illnesses and ailments find their way in attacking the different systems of your fur-baby. Lack of the following makes your dog more vulnerable to diseases.
When feeding, examine well the ingredients of what you're giving your dog and research if it's safe or not to be consumed by your dog. Make sure it has not been modified from the way it was supposed to be intended as it may be of low quality and may contain carcinogens. Instead, consider giving your fur-baby whole-food-based diets or with home-made pet foods that are balanced and completed with supplements.
Supplement, supplement, supplement
Supplements help protect your fur-baby's health by boosting his immune system and fueling the body with the necessary vitamins and minerals to strengthen body functions. Supplements, like Pet Parents®, have antioxidant properties that help protect your fur-baby from damage by free radicals.
Pet Parents® dog supplements are full of meats & veggies: salmon, chicken, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, & carrots, instead of fillers, such as rice & oats. These supplements are made with clinically-proven and branded ingredients that undergo proprietary processes that increase its efficacy, making it significantly effective compared to other brands in the market.
Minimize exposure to toxins
Harmful toxins are everywhere - in the air, soil, water and even inside your home! What you think is safe for your dog can actually possess great harm.
See to it that you are able to:
- Supervise your dog's time out
- Take your dog for a walk on a leash and on a short lead
- Keep out of your dog's reach cleaning products and other harmful substances in your home
- Pet-proof your home from substances that may be ingested (feces of stray animals, trash, wild plants, still water)
- Avoid using chew toys and dog treats that are synthetically-made and are not from trusted and recommended brands
Even if cancer always takes us by surprise, the cancer prevention tips mentioned above are the top things you are able to do to help lower down the risks of cancer from developing in your fur-baby- all for that happier, healthier, cancer-free years ahead.
Note: Everything mentioned above are all tips, but there is no cure for cancer and the best course of action is to consult with your veterinarian when symptoms occur.
