How Skin & Coat Supplements Pair Well with Allergy Supplements

Updated: April 27, 2022

One of the most common problems pet parents are faced with is allergies in dogs. Allergies in dogs are probably one of the most complex and frustrating things that can occur to your fur-baby, and there are quite a few signs of allergies.

This happens when your dog’s immune system overreacts to a particular substance or object which we call the allergen. Allergens can be anything depending on your dog. These allergens can be dust, pollens, molds, household products, certain food, medications, and a lot more! The list goes on.

According to Canine Journal, an allergy is a reaction by the body to stimulant exposure. This stimulant can be something that is inhaled, something that is eaten. or something that your fur-baby is otherwise exposed to (for example, a reaction to a bite of an insect). It is important to note that a skin reaction does not necessarily result from skin contact with an allergen; it can just as easily result from the consumption of an allergen.

Allergies are pretty common in dogs and cases can range from moderate to drastic ones, if not given proper medical attention.

This is pretty much why pet parents are always on the lookout for excellent products that work well together to help combat the negative effects of allergies in dogs. And we’re thrilled to let you in on something: It seems that we have what pet parents have been looking for - the Pet Parents® Allergy SoftSupps® and the Pet Parents® Skin and Coat SoftSupps®

In this article, we’ll find out how these supplements complement each other well and how they can help aid your dog’s allergy dilemmas.

The different types of allergies in dogs

As all dogs are different, allergies in dogs differ, too! These can be because of various reasons. Allergies in dogs can appear as:

  • Skin allergies. With skin allergies, your dog will scratch, rub, or lick any body part that is itchy – most often in the underarm, paws, and face. Dog skin allergies are caused by harmful substances that came in contact with your fur-baby's skin, insect or parasite bites, or can be because of genetics.
  • Food allergies. The most common type of allergy in dogs because even though we're all aware that dogs love food, they can't tolerate just any food. Some dogs may be allergic to chicken, some to corn, etc.
  • Seasonal allergies. These are the type of allergies that only appear at certain times of the year. Seasonal changes can bring about allergies in dogs since pollens are everywhere.
  • Acute allergic reactions. According to the American Kennel Club, this is perhaps considered to be the most alarming of all the types of allergies in dogs. Dogs, like humans, can go into anaphylactic shock if they develop a severe reaction to a specific allergen. This can be life-threatening if not treated immediately. Bee stings, insect bites, and vaccine reactions, among other things, can cause an anaphylactic response in some dogs, which is why it is smart to watch your pup after they receive any new vaccine, drug, or food.

The allergies mentioned above may have dog allergy symptoms such as, but are not limited to:
