Cat diapers are made to help you and your furbaby get through the many stages of life together while keeping a clean home and a happy, healthy life. Cat diapers are a hassle-free solution to the many possible problems you may encounter.
The Many Uses of Cat Diapers
There are countless benefits and uses of cat diapers. Read more below!
Having kittens at home can be a lot of fun, but not if they begin spraying in different areas of your house. According to PetMD, puppies and kittens cannot yet fully control their bladder during their early months and need time to get used to their changing environment. Kittens have the tendency to have accidents while still learning to pee in their litter box. Having your kitty wear cat diapers will help you kitten-proof your home and will also help keep your furbaby comfy and dry.
For Litter Box Training
When litter box training your cat, cat diapers play an essential role. You’ll know your cat is fully litter box trained when they do not wet or soil their diaper anymore.
Traveling with your cat can be fun! But traveling can also stress cats out and give them anxiety. Using cat diapers while traveling will save you time from having to take a number of stopovers and potty breaks. Diapers for cats can also help you keep your hotel room accident-free.
For Cats in Heat
Sexual maturity in female cats can happen as early as four months, but this will also vary from one cat to another, considering their health, lifestyle, size, and breed. While your female cat is in heat, they will spray more often and that may soil your floor and furniture. Wearing cat diapers during their heat can keeps your home mess-free.
Cat diapers can also prevent your cat from getting pregnant by covering their private area.
For Postpartum Management
If your cat gives birth, they will undergo postpartum changes, including having a bloody discharge a few weeks after giving birth. This vaginal discharge can soil the whelping box and the litter. Having your cat wear diapers will prevent the whelping box and her litter from getting wet and dirty, so all kittens and mom are safe and happy.
Our Pawtect™ Pads and cat diapers make a pawfect pair for postpartum management. Pawtect™ Pads can be used as a whelping box bedding.
For Incontinent Cats
Incontinence is an illness where your cat experiences a partial or total loss of control of their bladder or bowel. When incontinence happens to your cat, you never know when accidents will happen. Cat diapers are convenient to keep your home clean and your cat comfortable, while still being able to cuddle with your cat just about everywhere.
For Cat Depression
Depressed cats use their own smell to feel better and secure. They may spray or use the bathroom around your home to spread their scent. When your cat does this, it’s best to have them wear quality diapers. Your cat will still be able to spray, but you do not have to worry about accidents as the diapers are there to prevent them.
How to Make Cat Diapers More Functional
For cat diapers to work effectively, it’s important that you ensure a proper fit. If the diaper is too big, it’s eventually going to fall off or will not prevent leaks. If the diaper is too small, your furbaby will be uncomfortable and it may limit their movements.
Remember that there is no universal size chart for pet clothing. Your cat might be wearing a collar that’s small in size but may need a medium or a large diaper. Always look at the size chart of the diapers and measure your cat’s waist carefully.
How to Put A Diaper On A Cat
1: Do not guess your cat's size. Measure your cat's waist in front of their back legs. If your furbaby is in between two sizes, consider their weight for the sizing: If your cat is a heavier cat, go with the bigger size. If your cat is a skinnier cat, go with the smaller size.
2: To put the diaper on your cat, position the tabs underneath with the padding facing in.
3: Slip the tail hole of the diaper over your cat’s tail.
4: Fix the diaper between the back legs and place it cozily against your cat’s underbelly.
5: Secure the adjustable tabs of the diaper and you’re all set!
6 (optional): Give your cat treats or praises after putting on the diaper, so they will have a positive association with wearing it.
How Often to Change Your Cat’s Diaper
Always change your furbaby’s diaper at least every 3-4 hours. It's best if you replace one as soon as it is soiled. Allowing pee or poop to sit against your cat's skin for a long period of time can cause infections and burns, and will make your cat feel uncomfortable. No one wants that! You can then throw the dirty diaper out or throw it into the laundry, then put another one on your cat. Our washing instructions for cat diapers are as easy as one, two, three! Read it here.
